Our Ministries

We have a wide variety of ministries available for people that are interesting in plugging into the community and helping others. By getting involved you can meet and get to know others in our congregation and enjoy the full experience of being part of our vibrant and growing church.

Within the worship service there are a wide variety of ways to get involved. Many of these required minimal training, but all require enthusiasm! We have Acolytes who hold the elements during communion at both the 9 and 11 AM service. There are also Servers who serve communion and pray with recipients. We always need Readers who read prewritten invocations, calls to worship, scripture and litanies. Musicians are a vital part of our service so we are always looking for people who play the piano, organ, guitar, and drums. The Sanctuary Choir attends rehearsals and performs a variety of musical pieces during the Sunday services, Southern Gospel Concerts, and other special events. The Praise Team provides special music during worship services and special events. Ushers welcome guests and visitors, hand out bulletins, seat late arrivers, pass the offering plates and pass communion during the services. Sound technicians set up microphones, monitor sound levels, record the worship service, and run the sound system during Sunday services, funerals, weddings and holy unions. Video technicians set up and run the video screen during the 9 AM service and sometimes the 11 AM service. They also run videos for funerals, weddings, and holy unions.

Behind the scenes we are always looking for people who want to give of their time and talents, but might not want to stand up in front of others. For them we have opportunities to work with children by assisting in our Nursery and Sunday School Program. Background checks are done on all of our Nursery and Sunday School Volunteers. Altar Guild Members maintain and clean communion ware, change the banners and paraments according to the liturgical calendar, set up communion on Sundays, and helps decorate the altar for special services. Our Banner committee creates and maintains the church’s banners. Our Rose Queens maintain the rose gardens around the church. The WNL Cooking Team prepares meals on Wednesday night for those attending the WNL programs.

Outreach opportunities exist for people to reach out to others. Deacons are appointed by Rev. West and are involved in many aspects of church life including helping the pastor with member care as requested. The Friends of the Church prepare frozen dinners for those who are home bound. Our Light Brigade helps seniors who have special needs and problems that limit their mobility in tasks from changing a light bulb to chores that may need to be done around the house. Dust Bunnies keep our sanctuary spic and span. Christmas Angels decorate our sanctuary for the holiday season. Office Angels answer phones and doors, make coffee for our social hour and help out as needed on Sunday mornings. There are many opportunities to help out during different times of the year. In the fall we collect School Supplies and in the winter we spend several weeks making Quilts and collecting Shoes for the homeless. Bobbins & Bows makes tote bags and other items for the area’s homeless. Around Christmas, we collect toys and gifts for our Secret Santa program that benefits both children and senior citizens.
